When most people from the United Kingdom consider taking a holiday, they instantly think about a holiday abroad. This is a shame really, as the UK has some terrific places to visit. Sure, the weather might be slightly unpredictable at times, but that isn't everything! The United Kingdom has some wonderfully beautiful and historic areas and none more so than the Lake District. The largest of the National Parks in England and Wales, the Lake District has the tallest mountains and deepest lakes south of the Scottish border. With over 12 million visitors a year travelling to the area, it is well set up with a tourist infrastructure which compliments rather than destroys the ambience of the countryside and environs. Lake District Hotels are more likely to come in the form of bed and breakfast establishments than the eyesores of the Costa Brava! (more...) Travel is invariably a costly endeavour and accommodation is certainly responsible for a fair share of the expenses. It is possible, however, to take a trip without spending a fortune on a hotel or flat as long as you follow a few, simple pieces of advice. To start with, it is important that you book your hotel accommodation well in advance. If you leave this until the last minute, you are bound to find that the cheap London hotel will be booked out, and you are forced to go for a more expensive option. If you find that even the cheapest hotel remains a little too pricy for your tight budget, you might want to consider opting for a self catering apartment instead. This kind of holiday flat is invariably cheaper than the more conventional hotel counterpart and they have become more and more comfortable and well-equipped in the last few years. (more...) I'd been used to sitting for hours in a travel agents and hoping they could find what I wanted, not anymore! I love to travel, often not too sure where I am going until the last minute, until I book my plane ticket; it's so much fun that way. I can stop off at different places and I really do get to see more of the world. At one time I wouldn't venture out of the country, everything seemed such a hassle. Now travel is so adaptable, and so easy! Getting a plane ticket can be done over the phone or online, making places far more accessible than ever before. (more...) Travel is rarely inexpensive. In order to make sure that you do not pay the earth in exchange for your trip overseas, you need to work relatively hard at keeping the costs down. However, as long as you plan well in advance and do plenty of research leading up to your departure, you will find that it is not impossible to organise an excursion on a budget. Perhaps one of the most effective means by which to save money while travelling is to select your accommodation with care. While it is possible to find budget hotels, these fill up very quickly and are often located in awkward parts of the city or town. If you find that hotel living is just a little too costly, don't despair. Browsing the classifieds for Sterling caravans for sale is not the answer to accommodation needs. Simply get online and search for good self-catering apartments in your destination city. (more...) Travelling can be an exciting time in anyone's life. If you work part time, are on your gap year or just want to go on a series of cheap holidays then working small jobs here and there around the world is a great way to travel. Often you will only end up paying for flights and can even come back with a little money in your pockets. If you fancy doing this a few times a year, ensure your travel insurance covers multiple trips so that you are allowed 'x' amount of journeys every 365 days etc. Working around the world offers you some really great opportunities to meet and interact with new cultures and ways of life as well as earn some money and visit the usual tourist haunts.
First off we're going to look at cruise ship jobs as these are an incredibly popular choice amongst people thinking about traveling and working their way around the world. The problem is that cruise ship jobs are incredibly hard to come by and there are huge numbers of scams online which promise you jobs but fail to deliver. If you are looking for this kind of work it is better to go straight to the big cruise ship companies and look at their available opportunities. If you keep applying and sit on waiting lists you are likely to get something eventually so persevere.
Secondly we're going to look at seasonal work which is by far the best way to work around the world as it allows you to get paid whilst enjoying some of the best locations and resorts in the world. Firstly we have seasonal harvesting work around Europe and America which lets you see some impressive countryside and meet a lot of like-minded travellers. There are some really good guides online as to when the seasonal harvests are around the world and this will give you a nice itinerary for travel especially in Europe where the summer season offers the chance to pick everything from peas to olives. However the most plentiful kind of seasonal work is in the tourism sector with both summer and winter resorts regularly needing an influx of part time workers to fill their needs. The biggest intakes are at beach resorts in the summer and ski resorts in the winter. Even with few prior skills it is relatively easy to pick up cleaning work or bar work and if you are prepared to work the full season you are likely to get a reasonably good deal with accommodation, food and a modest wage provided. If you have just started to investigate the possibility of a holiday to Australia, you are likely to be feeling totally exasperated by the way in which the vast majority of tour operators advertise their packages. In fact, even using the term packages is completely inaccurate where this country is concerned. It can almost feel as though the tour operators are just plain embarrassed to advertise the full price of a complete package to this country: as they only tend to advertise the price of hotels in their brochures - pretty flipping useless really So, if tour operators cannot be bothered to help us out in this regard, perhaps it is best to avoid these if you are wanting to become a traveller in Australia. Instead, pop the useless brochures in the recycling bin and put your package together yourself. (more...)
